Profile Information

Who are you? (Creative answers encouraged!)
Hello everyone. I am a gay rights lawyer specializing in Immigration Law before the Executive Office for Immigration Review, The Board of Appeals, Dept. of Homeland Security and the Dept. of Labor.

My firm, Hua & Murga LLP, is located in New York City and we represent a large number of same sex bi-national couples seeking Resident Status in the US. Many of our clients who wish to live together in the US are unable to file "green cards" for their loved ones on account of the discriminatory nature of the Defense of Marriage Act. As a result, my firm advocates for change in Immigration Laws to lift the bar to immigration for the LGBT community.

I also advocate for LGBT asylum seekers before the Immigration Court based on claims of Gender and Sexual Orientation.

Most of us remember the shame that we felt when the photos from Abu Ghraib surfaced and confirmed our suspicions that, left unsupervised and nudged by their superiors to commit torture, our soldiers would behave immoral and revert to depraved acts against their prisoners. Sadly, President Obama’s “Change” rhetoric fails to have any substance as his administration announced yesterday that it shall… Continue

Torture Prosecutions On Hold; Because Democrats Were Complicit?

Today, the Washington Times reported that a National Intelligence report conflicts with House Speaker Pelosi's position that she was not aware that torture techniques, like waterboarding, were used back in 2002.

Running on a pledge to review and prosecute Bush Administration Officials who… Continue

GLAD Files 1st Lawsuit to Challenge DOMA!

Posted on March 3, 2009 at 2:10pm 2 Comments

After 13 long and painful years of blatant discrimination by our government against same-sex couples, GLAD has taken the bold and much anticipated step to challenge the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) as a violation of the Equal Protection Clause.

On March 3, 2009, GLAD filed its lawsuit in the federal district court in Boston, MA on behalf of… Continue
