Wow. When I find myself agreeing almost 100% with something coming out of Andrew Sullivan's mouth . . . it really is a wake-up call.

Urvashi Vaid is by far one of my favorite contemporary queer activists. She give me chills every time I hear her speak. Thanks so much for sharing this video. Hopefully many who went to March will internalize this call to action.

Really weird site but a good fine. Do you who the org behind it is? I'm all for speculating that the US gov (or US biotech corp) had a hand in creating HIV. I think there are lots of compelling questions, arguments and holes in our knowledge of the…

Jack Malebranche's bio says he's also an ordained priest in the Church of Satan . . . I really don't understand how people can take a man like this seriously. Though it probably provides some nice little bedtime reading for the many "gay" leaders in…

I can't think of one promise he has fulfilled. He has actually expanded several Bush policies :(

Profile Information

Who are you? (Creative answers encouraged!)
Displaced southern queer medical student from Virginia now living in Boston and working on a public health graduate degree.
Activism & Interests?
Most of my activism back in Virginia focused on health care-related issues as they intersect with queer people, class and animal rights (not necessarily all three at once). Really interested in getting more involved in Boston-based activism!

Yet another Back-pedal from Obama - This time on Needle Exchanges

During his campaign, President Obama pledged to support lifting the ban on federal funding for needle exchange programs. Apparently, that pledge has gone by the wayside as his administration left intact budget language prohibiting funding for programs which have been demonstrated to save lives. This is yet another turn of events that makes me less-than-enthusiastic about the "HOPE" of "CHANGE" for the next three and a half years. Sometimes catchy buzz words really are JUST buzz words.

Equality Virginia Hires Straight and Completely Inexperienced Man as New CEO

Equality Virginia, Virginia’s largest lGbt organization (big on the G, little on the rest), recently hired Jon Blair, a straight man, as the organization’s new Chief Operating Officer. Now I suppose one could argue effectively that a straight person can adequately fill this role, and I might agree . . . in theory. However, based on emails sent by Equality Virginia to its members and personal correspondence with the chair of the EV Board, Mr. Blair seems to have no prior experience working on LGB… Continue

A response Latter-Day Saints on Same-Sex Marriage

So today a Mormon student at the medical school I attend circulated some information about the Church of Latter-Day Saint's position on "the sanctity of the institution of marriage." In this correspondence, it was cited that the church was exhibiting an element of tolerance. I just couldn't resist a reply since this is not the first piece of mis-information about Mormonism that's been circulated. I thought I would share my reply with you all just for fun :-) Enjoy!
