Queer Liberation, Not Assimilation!

Welcome to QueerToday.com. This site has evolved from a small resource for queer youth into a thriving web community for queer identified activists and our allies worldwide. We formed the largest ever protest of Focus on the Family, broke countless queer news stories, planned anti-war protests, and more. We continue, as a community, to build coalitions and fight for social justice for all.

I am currently residing in San Francisco with my partner Wing. I work for a non-profit serving the Bay Area's LGBTQ-headed families. Before that I worked at an organization that sued pharmaceutical companies, and before that The Boston Alliance of LGBTQ Youth. I've served on the board of Greater Boston PFLAG, and spoke to thousands of high school students about LGBTQ issues through PFLAG, SpeakOut, and the Department of Public Health of Massachusetts.

Please feel free to contact me personally to book speaking engagements.

Why Kucinich Voted NO on Health Care Reform

Congressman Dennis Kucinich after voting against H.R. 3962 addresses why he voted NO, stating:

"We have been led to believe that we must make our health care choices only within the current structure of a predatory, for-profit insurance system which makes money not providing health care. We cannot fault the insurance companies for being what they are. But we can fault legislation in… Continue

House Resolution Designates Venezuela a State Sponsor of Terrorism

Guest Post by Stephen Lendman

At a time of growing US poverty, hunger, homelessness, and despair, imperial wars without end, and the Obama administration even worse than its predecessor, Venezuela:

Interview: Kip Williams, National Equality March Organizer

1. How did you get involved in planning the National Equality March? Tell us a little bit about what the experience was like for you.

Right after David Mixner called for the march, I sent him a very simple email: "Dear David, Put me to work." He let me know that Cleve Jones would be le… Continue

The Astounding Cost of Marriage Campaigns

During the past two years over $46,000,000 was spent on marriage equality campaigns in Maine and California. There have been 29 other states with marriage initiatives bringing the total amount spent on losing marriage equality campaigns to somewhere around $100,000,000.

Sad about Maine? Re-energize & Re-focus!

It has been devastating to watch thousands upon thousands of people vote against the rights of LGBTQ people over the past ten years. And it's been tragic to watch our community spend millions upon millions of dollars on losing ballot initiatives for marriage - defensive campaigns that… Continue

#noon1 AP: Gay Marriage Lost in Maine

After exciting early returns it looks like now Maine may have a recount on the marriage issue. Networks are saying too close to call right now with the anti-gay side ahead by 3 points...

earlier:

NO on 1 seems to be trending towards a win in Maine. It would be the first time voters approved a same-sex marriage ballot initiative.

Even in the heavily Catholic areas, and areas where the No campaign (our side) thought they would have a challenge they are ahead or on target.… Continue

The Pelosi 12

Guest Post:
Around 3PM this afternoon I was one of 12 single payer activists who were escorted from the reception area of Nancy Pelosi's office in the San Francisco Federal Building and arrested by members of the Federal Protection Service of U.S. Homeland Security.

Just before noon we went to Pelosi's office to ask Dan Bernal, the district director, make a phone call either to Pelosi herself or Terri McCullough, Pelosi's chief of staff in Washington. We wanted to directly communicate two deman… Continue

Given how much support HRC has given to conservative dems I assume we'd have to stop giving them money as well by extension ;)

No, I mean from the lying, hypocritical Congress. Why are they issuing this hue and cry on "democracy" in Venezuela and ignoring the repression in Honduras?
