JD Ranger Bi invisibility & biphobia on "Grey's Anatomy"

Bi characters have thankfully been gaining a bit of visibility on television lately. On the latest episode of ABC's medical drama "Grey's Anatomy," a bi woman named Callie exchanges flirtation with Arizona, a woman who kissed her out of the blue in a previous episode. This female-female kiss was nothing new for "Grey's" as Callie only recently divorced her husband and then dated a woman for the first time in her life. Amidst the rest of the current network hits, "Grey's" is one of the most sexua… Continue

JD Ranger Bisexual Theology

There has been much theological reflection by queer folks on our place in the churches today. While it is a very constructive endeavor for lgbt Christians to claim theological language, conversations I have witnessed usually lump bisexual people in with gays and lesbians, leaving the bi perspective out of the discussion, and effectively out of the church. JD Ranger Another perspective on fence-sitting

In researching nineteenth century abolitionist movements, I found a story of an anti-slavery preacher receiving threats to be "ridden out of town on a rail." JD Ranger The View from the Fence: Bisexuals, Ominsexuals, Pansexuals on the Range

Defining bisexuality is not a simple endeavor. It involves more than sex, and in many cases, more than two genders. Many who do not fit within the monosexual mold of either straight or gay choose not to identify as bisexual. Those for whom the primary identifying factor is not sex have sometimes used the term bisensual, broadening the terminology to include emotional and romantic attraction. But this is not enough… Continue

Ritch Ludlow The Bisexual Variable?

This was essentially just a rant in response to this article being posted. I'm posting my response though. Article on homosexuality by Robert Kunzig: http://www.psychologytoday.com/articles/index.php?term=pto-20080420-000003&print=1 “If there is one thing that has always seemed obvious about homosexuality, it's that it just doesn't make sense. Evolution favors traits that aid reproduction, and being gay clearly doesn't do that. The existence of homosexuality amounts to a profound evolution… Continue
