On Tuesday, Nov. 3, Ohioans elected 10 public officials from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, bringing in a record number of progressive LGBT voices, with positions ranging from school board to municipal court judge.
“The Ohio Democratic Party is proud to have recruited and groomed candidates across Ohio who reflect the great diversity of our party and our state,” Ohio Democratic Party Chairman Chris Redfern said.

Americans headed to the polls in droves yesterday to weigh in on a myriad of issues and candidates, including many dealing with the LGBT community.
The good news: In Kalamazoo, MI, 65 percent of voters supported an LGBT non-discrimination ordinance; currently, domestic partner benefits are leading in Washington with 51 percent of the vote, but only 50 percent of precincts have reported; Akron, Ohio, elected it's first openly lesbian candidate, Sandra Kurt, to city council.

On Sunday, Oct. 11, activists, community organizers and concerned citizens from across America took the long walk past the White House to the U.S. Capitol building with rainbow flags blazing and fists in the air, all in the name of equality.
The National Equality March drew an estimated 200,000 people to Washington, D.C., to send a message to policymakers, Americans and the world at large, that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people aren’t going to take it anymore. Equality is on the hor…

I will say this upfront: I supported Obama. I even supported Obama in the primaries and do not regret that decision one bit. I supported Obama because after eight years of Bush, the Left needed a "win" that would inspire them and show the that political climate in America had changed. It is the symbolic power of his presidency that was important to me--and we should never underestimate the power of symbols. I supported him precisely
because he talked a good game, would raise people's expe…

Recent good developments:
-Obama administration hints that they will stop the raids on Marijuana dispensaries and growers in California and leave marijuana rules up to the states. Keep your fingers crossed!

Living up to his campaign promise, President Obama sent a signal to the world that he is breaking with King George W Bush’s policies. With the stroke of his pen, our new President has ordered his government not to rely on any legal opinions (concerning interrogation) produced by the…

Yes, it’s that time of year again. Winter’s never been a real fave for me, especially with my life being spent in places like Southern California and South Texas. Winter is for folks up north, in more storybook settings where it looks more like the postcards, and there’s more of those stereotyped things…

Over the last few years, gay love has been on prominent display in front of America. It’s been a wild rollercoaster of highs, lows, joy, outrage, passion and disgust in this trip leading us from Brokeback to Saddleback. And now that we’re here at Saddleback, where the church’s Past…

President-elect Barack Obama's decision to invite Rick Warren to deliver the invocation at his inauguration is an insult to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) people and their allies of equality. Warren's outspoken work to cement LGBT people's status as second-class citizens is a disgrace. President-elect Obama received the support and votes of millions of LGBT people. We do not deserve to have to see a man who believes that we are unequal speak from the podium at the inauguration…

Barney Frank’s really getting a bit too predictable. Some months back, when Mara Keisling began her “I Hate HRC” tour, I began musing about the prospect of how both the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and especially Ol’ Barn’ (“let me lock ‘em up Andy! ...I caught ‘em in the women’…
