Let's bring some queer liberation and solidarity to Pride

Was it really 1977 that we organized Boston Gay Pride out of my living room? (OMG) We didn't have a lot of banks and corporations bankrolling us then. But what we did have was a lot of passion for the all the struggles and movements of the time. Our grassroots organizations didn't have to go into debt to find the money to pay for the privilege of marching in our own parade.

A Call/Open Letter to the Massachusetts LGBT Community from the Stonewall Warriors

Boston International Action Center

You may know us from our Pride float every year and the multi national community that accompanies us and the range of issues we fight for. We took the name, Stonewall Warriors to keep alive the spirit of the 1969 Stonewall Rebellion – let by trans youth of color, starting the modern queer struggle. Our microphone, banners and resources are offered every year for the most oppressed in queer community

Trans youth and community still beset by street attacks and harassment
All LGBT of color who must endure racist slights, insults, attacks and racial profiling
Queer community struggling to survive economically, working in low-wage jobs, living in apartments in the foreclosure chopping block
Discrimination in healthcare and the growing crisis of HIV
Queer liberation means that we fight for justice for Sean Bell, an African American brutally murdered by the New York City Police Department!

Queer liberation means we fight for justice for the Jersey 4, 4 African American lesbians in jail for defending themselves against an anti-lgbt attack!

Queer liberation means fighting ICE and demanding an end to attacks on immigrants!

Queer liberation means fighting against the war – there is no pride in occupation!

We invite the progressive LGBT community and allies to join us this year again. We struggle to have our float and contingent every year, struggle in the face of the costs that the corporate Pride committee charges us just to march for our rights!

Join us THURSDAY, JUNE 5 for a planning meeting at the Action Center, 284 Amory Street in JP (very near Stonybrook Stop on the Orange Line) at 6:30 pm to plan the biggest, loudest queer liberation contingent ever! (there will be food at this meeting)
