Reliable sources have revealed exclusively to QueerToday.com that gay elites have struck a deal with New York Republican lawmakers to allow a vote to be taken on equal marriage as soon as next week in exchange for financing their re-election campaigns.

While these Republicans will not vote for equal marriage or the repeal of DOMA due to fear of repercussion from their constituents, they have agreed not to block the vote.

Wealthy gays have committed to donate tens of thousands of dollars to New York Republicans who may support war, be against reproductive choice, be against immigrants rights, and be against health care reform in exchange for this deal.

Could this set back the broader progressive movement?

FYI " Last week, New York Governor David Paterson told gay monthly The Advocate that he would add the gay marriage bill to the agenda of a special session expected to take place in late September."

Thanks for posting this. I think it's so important that back-door deals like what this seems to be are exposed. I know that myself and Mark are looking into this to get more information (facts!), but that this was posted so that everyone could know at least something about what is going on in the meantime.

This is as good a time as any to take a look at who is donating what to whose campaigns, and anyone who wants to check donor books (which should be open to the public, I believe) or can give advice to others on how to start searching is very much encouraged to do so. So, republicans--likely senate republicans, since that's where the bill got stalled last May--running for re-election in NY...GO!

Bribery is bullshit, no matter who it helps.

Ok, so here are all the Senate Republicans. I have two questions:

1). Can anyone figure out who here is up for re-election?
2). Can anyone elaborate on what the letters after their names (beyond the R) mean?

At least one of these folks has very possibly had their vote paid for. My last question for today: Who could it be?

Oh, well wealthy gay back room with the demonrats too. When will we ever stop loving the master and joining the enemy? Good job on the exposure. I don't know who got the money but they all read criminal to me in one way or another.

Do these wealthy gays think they can buy their way into acceptance? Buying votes is sure what it seems like to me.

What seems really ridiculous to me is that the Republicans weren't willing to actually vote for equal rights for people in homosexual relationships, but these wealthy gays were still willing to give them money just to be a tiny bit less obstructive. I mean, if you have enough money to bribe politicians, why not go after the ones who will do more for the money, or (gasp) give that money to organizations that are actually making a tangible difference...?
