Okay, so by now everyone knows I'm not a big fan of the prioritization of marriage as a means to achieve queer liberation, and especially not a fan of most of the organizations with that priority. Yet I can't help but find it utterly fascinating that a state is suing the country over the Defense of Marriage Act.

Putting aside any strategy discussions about what's best for the movement, my first reaction to this was "Hell Yeah, go MA!". I almost feel like a loser for moving to California... almost. Read the full complaint below:

It's nice to see a state stand up for their citizens. Also, I think the California approach is a little bit too preemptive as long as the DOMA still stands, I just don't see a federal injunction against prop 8 forthcoming. So hopefully the MA case will get through first.
